ICYMI: Sen. Cruz Talks Border Security with Law Enforcement, Local Officials at Texas-Mexico Border

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Friday, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) participated in a border security roundtable with local law enforcement officers and elected officials in McAllen, Texas. In the meeting, Sen. Cruz was briefed on immigration enforcement efforts and top border security issues. Cruz also heard from local officials about priorities for their communities.

On Friday, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz visited the Rio Grande Valley to meet with local law agencies and elected officials to discuss immigration enforcement efforts and top border security issues. In October, Border Patrol agents apprehended a total of 46,195 migrants between ports of entry along the southwest border, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The Rio Grande Valley witnessed the surge of Central American immigrants crossing the border first-hand…Cruz discussed working with other leaders at the White House to better fund Border Patrol and put more boots on the ground.

Cruz wants that to change quickly and assured he intends to do everything he can do help that happen. KTRH News Radio – Houston: Cruz Talks Border Security Along Rio Grande
Cruz recently met with local officials in McAllen, saying he plans to work with the new attorney general to end the practice of releasing illegal aliens who have committed violent crimes. “One of the first things I hope will be on their agenda is going to be to begin enforcing the immigration laws with vigor, that means among other things, not releasing criminal illegal aliens,” Cruz said during a round table discussion with police, sheriffs, border patrol and church officials in the Rio Grande Valley. Cruz wants to see Congress act to provide additional resources to secure the border.
