April 21, 2017

Greetings,

Texas is home to incredibly innovative and successful manufacturers and businesses – because in Texas we know the power of free enterprise. We can create substantial economic growth when we get the government off the backs of the job creators and the hardworking men and women in our state.

Over the last two weeks I was honored to visit with Texans from various industries across the Lone Star State, listening to their concerns, and to their ideas on what Congress can do to further promote prosperity and opportunity. I also discussed my commitment to applying the principles we embrace in Texas to policymaking in Washington.

My number-one priority in the Senate continues to be creating more good-paying jobs and expanding economic growth, because that is the top priority of Texans, from El Paso to Texarkana.

Please read below for an update from this last week.

Keep Texas Strong,

Sen. Cruz Visits with San Antonio Manufacturers and Business Leaders

This week Sen. Cruz toured the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas plant and met with executives and employees, where he discussed his efforts to reduce the burden of federal regulations on manufacturers. Later in the day, Sen. Cruz attended a San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce roundtable discussion where he participated in a Q&A session with attendees, and discussed his efforts to create more good-paying jobs and expand opportunities for all Texans statewide.

"Toyota is yet another example of Texas’ amazing economic success story,” Sen. Cruz said. “For more than 10 years, y’all have been producing Toyota Tundra and Toyota Tacoma pickups here, and if you drive around our state for just a little while, I think most folks can understand pretty clearly why you decided to produce your pickup trucks here in Texas. As Texans, we know the power of free enterprise and the economic growth that we can create when we get the government off the backs of the job creators and the working men and women of our state. Thank you for your leadership, and the hard work that each of you do here.”

Sens. Cruz and Cornyn Commend the President’s Suspension of BLM Red River Surveys

Sen. Cruz & Sen. John Cornyn commended President Trump for his suspension of three flawed surveys conducted along the Red River by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) that led to the attempted unconstitutional seizure of tens of thousands of acres of private property.

“This is a real victory for the State of Texas,” Sen. Cruz said. “For years under the Obama administration, innocent farmers, ranchers, and families faced unconstitutional affronts to their property and harassment from federal officials. I commend the President for recognizing Texas’ sovereign right to its borders as well as the private property rights of Texans.”

"For 65 years, you have been building this operation from the ground up, and are now playing a critical role in our nation's space programs, including the International Space Station, Orion, and our mission to Mars," Sen. Cruz said. "I congratulate you on winning the NASA National Subcontractor of the Year Award for 2016 ... it's clear from my tour of your operation that Texas' leadership in space exploration begins in the conference rooms and factory floors of operations like yours.
