Sen. Cruz: 'May We Never Forget the Lives of Each Service Member'

Participates in Memorial Day ceremonies in San Antonio and Kerrville

KERRVILLE, Texas - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today attended Memorial Day events in San Antonio and Kerrville. In San Antonio, Sen. Cruz addressed attendees of the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Memorial Day Program. In Kerrville, Sen, Cruz delivered the keynote remarks in a ceremony at the Kerr County War Memorial.

In San Antonio Sen. Cruz said: "The men and women buried here have not simply known freedom; they have embodied it," Sen. Cruz said. "More than 30,000 Texans have lost their lives in defense of our nation. May we never forget the lives of each service member; it is their blood that has kept us free. And it is their sacrifice that calls each of us to cherish the gift of liberty."

In Kerrville Sen. Cruz said: "From World War I to the present day, Kerr County has had a proud tradition of military service, one that is clear for all here to see," Sen. Cruz said. "As Americans post flags at memorials and on the graves of heroes today, may the stripes remind us of the blood shed so that freedom shines forth for all generations. We are forever grateful that our nation has warriors who defend and protect us from harm."
