Sen. Cruz Applauds Bipartisan Passage of the Countering Iran’s Destabilizing Activities Act

‘The United States will not tolerate the Islamic Republic’s aggressive and illicit behavior.’

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) applauded the passage of the Countering Iran's Destabilizing Activities Act of 2017. Sen. Cruz is an original co-sponsor of the bill:

"Yesterday the U.S. Senate passed the Countering Iran's Destabilizing Activities Act of 2017, sending a clear message that the United States will not tolerate the Islamic Republic's aggressive and illicit behavior. The leading state sponsor of terrorism continues to directly threaten the security of the United States and our allies. This measure will impose sanctions on Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the regime's ballistic missile program, support for terrorism, ongoing abuse of human rights, repression of the Iranian people, and violations of the arms embargo. It will also impose sanctions to hold Russia accountable for its hostile actions in Syria, invading and illegally annexing Crimea, engaging in cyber-attacks, and destabilizing activities around the world. I am proud to have co-sponsored and support this legislation, which received overwhelming support from both sides of the aisle with a vote of 98-2."
