Sen. Cruz Commends President Trump and Ambassador Haley’s Defense of U.S. Sovereignty, Decision to Recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital at the U.N.
‘I commend President Trump and Ambassador Nikki Haley for displaying strong moral clarity in vetoing another anti-Israel resolution and powerfully speaking the truth at the U.N.’
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement commending President Trump and United Nations’ Ambassador Nikki Haley for vetoing a U.N. Security Council resolution condemning the United States’ recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital:
“I commend President Trump and Ambassador Nikki Haley for displaying strong moral clarity in vetoing another anti-Israel resolution and powerfully speaking the truth at the U.N. They tenaciously defended U.S. sovereignty and the right, courageous decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital. The veto confirms the strengthening of U.S. leadership at the U.N. and is a stark contrast to one year ago, when the previous administration shamefully permitted the adoption of Security Council Resolution 2334.
“Rather than being complicit with the U.N.'s obsessive hostility towards Israel and its attempt to harangue the United States, the other 14 countries on the U.N. Security Council should focus on rejecting efforts to delegitimize Israel, recognize the reality that Jerusalem is Israel's capital, and start moving their embassies there.”
