Sens. Cruz, Hirono Applaud Supreme Court Announcement to Provide Same Day Audio of Oral Arguments in Trump v. Hawaii

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Friday, the Supreme Court announced it would release an audio recording of arguments in the highly anticipated Trump v. Hawaii case on April 25. The news comes after U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawaii), the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, called on the Supreme Court in a letter to make an audio recording of oral arguments in the case available immediately after arguments conclude.

“I am grateful the Court will provide same day audio of oral arguments on April 25,” Sen. Cruz said. “In doing so, the Court has opened up the judicial process regarding this case to the American public. I believe that the people of the United States will take this opportunity to recognize the care with which the Court considers the issues that matter to them, and hope to see this become a standard practice by the Court.”

“I thank the Supreme Court for agreeing to our request to release same day audio for Trump v. Hawaii oral arguments,” Senator Hirono said. “In high interest cases like this one, same day audio provides valuable insight into oral arguments, and increases access to primary sources of information on the case.”
