Sen. Cruz Applauds Trump Administration for Standing with Farmers & Small Refinery Workers
The president's leadership stands in stark contrast to the Democrats, who continue championing the Green New Deal
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement regarding the administration's decision to grant 31 waivers to small refineries, continuing a policy that Sen. Cruz has urged the administration to uphold:
"I applaud President Trump for standing with farmers and refinery workers in Texas and across the country who have helped fuel our economy, agricultural industry, and energy independence. The president's leadership stands in stark contrast to the Democrats, who this weekend are descending upon Iowa to continue championing the Green New Deal, a proposal that will devastate farmers and refinery workers across America. There is still more to do to address this issue, and I look forward to continuing to work with the president and EPA Administrator Wheeler to implement additional win-win solutions for our corn farmers and blue collar workers."
Sen. Cruz last month led Sens. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Pat Toomey (R-Penn.), John Kennedy (R-La.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), and Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) in calling on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler to stand firm against Senate Democrats' attempts to roll back President Trump's energy independence accomplishments.
