VIDEO: Sen. Cruz Champions Most Significant Federal Education Initiative Since GI Bill
CORSICANA, Texas -This week, Oil City Iron Works, oldest continually operating iron foundry in Texas, released a video highlighting the importance of U.S. manufacturing and the need to advance the Education Freedom Scholarships and Opportunity Act, a bill U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz introduced that would transform how workers and families access the education and skills they need to thrive in a 21st century economy.
In the video, Sen. Cruz said:
"One of the great victories we've seen in the last two-and-a-half years is hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs coming back to America. That is a fantastic development, we need to continue that, we need to accelerate that. One of the critical tools to bring manufacturing jobs back to America, to grow manufacturing jobs in America is to pass the legislation that I've introduced."
Explaining how his legislation would benefit students and workers, Sen. Cruz added:
"This legislation, if and when we pass it, if and when we build a coalition strong enough to pass it, will be the most significant federal education initiative since the GI Bill. $100 billion in scholarships to ensure that our kids and our workforce is trained to meet the needs of today and to meet the needs of the future."
Sen. Cruz traveled to Corsicana in August where he toured Oil City Iron Works. There he participated in a roundtable discussion with local business leaders and job creators on ways to enhance Texas' workforce.
