January 6, 2018
Greetings,
From confirming Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court and strong constitutionalist judges to the federal bench, to passing major tax reform and repealing Obamacare’s individual mandate - 2017 was a tremendous year for the American people.
In the last few weeks, hardworking men and women across the country have received pay raises and bonuses as a result of this historic tax reform bill, and it is just the beginning. Virtually every taxpayer in America will see a tax cut, which makes an enormous difference for working families, parents, and young people. And this tax bill benefits small businesses, farmers and ranchers, and job creators all across the country.
Further, this tax bill included my amendment expanding College 529 Savings Plans. This year, parents and grandparents can use 529’s for their children’s K-12 education. As the most far-reaching federal school choice bill in history, this is a huge victory for parents and working families across Texas and the country.
While we still have work to do to fulfill all our promises to the American people, I remain committed to working with my colleagues to get the job done, and am encouraged by the opportunities before us in 2018. Texans want to continue to see jobs come back to America, a booming economy, and rising wages. Expanding economic opportunity and creating more good paying jobs continues to be my top priority, because that remains the top priority of the Lone Star state.
I remain determined to keep fighting for the resources Texas needs to rebuild from the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. My Senate office continues to work to ensure swift and effective service to Texans and Texas communities in need of federal assistance following the storm. If you need additional information or assistance during the recovery and rebuilding process, please do not hesitate to contact my office or utilize the federal and state resources listed here.
