This week, President Trump gave a strong State of the Union address and highlighted the incredible successes we’ve seen the past two years. From the lowest unemployment in half a century, to expanded economic opportunity for hard-working Americans, the last two years have been a testament to common-sense policies that work. And as the President makes clear, we need to secure our southern border with a border wall. Democrats voted for 350 miles of border wall back in 2013, but this year they shut the government down to stop building 234 miles of wall. I urge my Democratic colleagues to respect the will of the American people and protect our country from the threat of illegal immigration.

On Wednesday, I delivered remarks at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) outlining a conservative foreign policy built on prioritizing the national security interests of the United States. As a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, I believe we should generally be reluctant to intervene militarily and risk the lives of our sons and daughters. But when we must intervene to protect our national security, we must be fierce and resolute in defending America and defeating our enemies. Watch my full speech here.

I had the opportunity to meet with Golden Pass LNG representatives this week to hear about the final investment decision for the LNG export project that will create thousands of U.S. jobs and generate billions of dollars in economic activity for Texas and the nation. The American energy renaissance has led the United States to become the number one producer of oil and natural gas in the world. The energy community in the Lone Star State has made significant contributions to fortify our nation’s energy dominance on the global stage and I am proud Texas continues to lead the way in fueling the world.

Cruz and John Cornyn (R-Texas), Governor Greg Abbott, and Texas members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter to Acting Director Russ Vought of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) urging him to expedite issuance of the rules and regulations governing the Community Development Block Grants – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) appropriated by Congress one year ago so Texas can receive over $4.3 billion for flood mitigation projects to prevent future storm damage. Read more...
