July 15, 2017

Greetings,

I am encouraged by the Senate's introduction this week of the revised Better Care Reconciliation Act. There are several notable improvements, including the addition of my Consumer Freedom amendment and expanded health savings accounts to put people back in charge of their health care and not the government.

While the health care reform debate continues, I have been hard at work on other key issues important to Texans. This week, I chaired a hearing in Senate Subcommittee on Space, Science and Competitiveness examining partnerships between the U.S. government and the commercial space industry, and how those partnerships can further America's leadership in space exploration.

On Thursday, I had the pleasure of meeting with Ambassador Robert Lighthizer, the United States Trade Representative, along with Sen. John Cornyn and other members of the Texas Congressional delegation. There, we discussed the importance of modernizing NAFTA in a manner that reflects importance of international trade to our state and the modern economy that characterizes Texas and the nation today.

Please read below for an update from this last week.

Keep Texas Strong,
