Cruz News: May 20, 2018
May 20, 2018 Greetings, Heidi and I join Texans across the state in mourning the lives taken in the shooting at Santa Fe High School. On Friday, I visited with family members and victims, received a briefing from local law enforcement officials, and attended a powerful prayer vigil with the Santa Fe community. We continue to lift the victims and their families, and first responders in our prayers. We need to be doing everything humanly possible to stop tragedies like this from ever happening again. May God bless Santa Fe and all who are responding and supporting this community in its time of need. Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to attend the opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem along with some of my colleagues in the Senate. I have long advocated for the U.S. to relocate our Embassy to Jerusalem, and recognize it as the eternal and undivided capital of Israel. In doing so, we’ve sent a powerful message to both enemies and allies of the United States: America keeps her word and we stand with the nation of Israel. It was an incredible, historic occasion, and I commend President Trump for honoring his campaign commitment. This week, during National Police Week, we pause to celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of all first responders who answer the call to serve our communities. It is their steadfast and selfless service to our communities who keep us strong. We also pause to remember those who have fallen in the line of duty. May God comfort their families and friends, and may they know that their loved ones are noble models of selfless sacrifice to us all. My Senate office continues to work to ensure swift and effective service to Texans and Texas communities in need of federal assistance following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. If you need additional information or assistance during the recovery and rebuilding process, please do not hesitate to contact my office or use the federal and state resources listed here. Please read below for an update from this last week. Keep Texas Strong,
