November 11, 2017
Greetings,
This week, Texas faced an unspeakable evil. On Monday, I visited Sutherland Springs and spoke with the injured, and family, friends, and neighbors who lost loved ones and friends, as well as community members and first responders. On Wednesday, I joined Vice President Pence at a prayer vigil for the victims. In the wake of this horrific tragedy, we are seeing a community come together. We are praying for the loved ones of the victims in this small Texas town. We are lifting up in prayer those who were injured, and for their complete recovery. We are praying for the first responders, both the men and women in uniform, and the many civilians from the local community who rushed in to assist. And we are praying for the strength of this community – especially during the difficult days and weeks ahead.
This Saturday is Veterans Day, and Heidi and I are proud to recognize the incredible bravery and sacrifice of all those who have served, and continue to serve in our Armed Forces to protect our nation, defend our Constitution, and defeat our adversaries. The selfless service of America’s Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and their families has secured the blessings of liberty for generations and made our nation a beacon of hope around the world. We owe them a debt we can never fully repay.
For those affected by Hurricane Harvey, please don’t forget that the final day to apply for FEMA’s individual disaster assistance is November 30th; you can register at disasterassistance.gov. My Senate office continues to work to ensure swift and effective service to Texans and Texas communities in need of federal assistance following the storm. If you need additional information or assistance during the recovery and rebuilding process, please do not hesitate to contact my office or utilize the federal and state resources listed here.
Please read below for an update from this last week.
