e-Newsletter: Week of July 27th

Good Evening,

I am proud to stand unequivocally with our Israeli allies – they have a right and indeed an obligation to defend their citizens from acts of terrorism by Iranian-backed Hamas. During a joint session of Congress this week, Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a powerful, Churchillian speech. He understands the gravity of the war in Israel, the existential threat to our Israeli allies, and the staggering risks posed to American national security. I am unshakeable in my commitment to the state of Israel, and as the leader of the free world, the United States should do the same by standing with its ally to utterly eradicate Hamas for as long as it takes.

“This is a historic moment. Israel is at war [and] America should be standing unshakably with the State of Israel as they follow through on utterly eliminating Hamas. At the same time, it’s tragic that many of my Democrat colleagues, including Vice President Kamala Harris, plan to boycott the speech. They refused to even listen to the democratically elected leader of Israel. This is the latest trend of the anti-Israel, antisemitic wing of the Democrat party. We should stand united. We should stand alongside our friend.”

The Biden administration has completely abandoned all common sense when it comes to our nation’s national security, and Kamala Harris has been at the center of all of it as Joe Biden’s “border czar.” She has failed every step of the way to protect our nation, and the one time she went to our southern border she didn’t even go to the epicenter of the crisis to witness the chaos she has caused. Her complete neglect of her executive duty, as Vice President of the United States, to keep our country safe is reprehensible.

“[Vice President Kamala Harris’] record is extraordinarily radical. … Every one of the disastrous policies Joe Biden [has pushed over] the last four years Kamala Harris supports. … Listen, as Republicans, if we do not refer to her every moment of the day as ‘border czar’ Kamala Harris we're committing political malpractice, because she was the one put in charge of the border. As you know, she didn't even bother to come to the border. She went once to El Paso and they cleaned it up so she saw no illegal aliens. But she never went to the Rio Grande Valley. She never went to Eagle Pass. She never went to Del Rio.”

The Democrat Party has completely given into the radical left’s extreme agenda, and Kamala Harris’ nomination for president has driven that point home. If jeopardizing our national security wasn’t enough, Democrats are also on a rampage to pack the Supreme Court because it’s the one branch of government that is daring to stand up for the rule of law. Sadly, this is just another example of how the Democrat Party has become so radically inclined that it’s even willing to usurp all rational political discourse.

“Kamala Harris embodies the radical left wing of the Democrat Party, and sadly, that is where Democrats are in the Senate. What's terrifying [is], if you look at the Senate right now, the Democrats have a 51 to 49 majority. They are one vote away from having the votes to pack the US Supreme Court [and] having the votes to expand the number of justices from 9 to 13 [by adding] four radical left-wing justices. … If Democrats win in November, and if they gain one seat in the Senate, they will pack this Court.”

The next generation of Americans deserve far better than to be left with this mess Democrats have created. When Vice President Harris visited Houston this week she proved that she cares more about gaining dollars and votes from teachers’ unions than prioritizing African-American and Hispanic children who want a quality education. I firmly believe school choice is the civil rights issue of the 21st century and when Democrats shut down schools across the country and kicked children out of their classrooms, learning loss skyrocketed. Our children shouldn’t be paying the price for the Democrats’ radical policies, especially when we have ample paths available to better educate and serve our next generation of leaders.

“[When Vice President Kamala Harris] speaks to the teachers’ unions [and] I'm going to predict … she will not use the words ‘learning loss.’ Under the Democrat [leadership], they shut schools down all across the country [taking] tens of millions of kids [out of] in-person school for over a year. As a result of Democrat shutdowns, we have seen the biggest increase in the racial gap and the biggest learning loss. The students who were hurt the most under Kamala Harris's policies were African American students and Hispanic students who have suffered the single greatest learning loss since we've been measuring it. But, she will not say a word about that.”

As the father of two teenage daughters, I am deeply concerned about the harmful environment Big Tech has created online. I stand in agreement with parents across the country, that it’s time for Congress to hold Big Tech accountable to ensure the safety, security, and wellbeing of our children.

“While there is no doubt that our country has greatly benefited from the internet, for some families, it has come at a painful and even tragic cost. Every parent, I know, is concerned about the online threats directed at our kids. Whether it's predators targeting children or online videos promoting self-harm, risky life choices, or undermining their self-esteem, we all know someone who has had to grapple with the failure of Big Tech to take responsibility for the harm caused by its products. Today, the Senate is beginning to put Big Tech on notice. … I'm proud to work alongside Republicans and Democrats, and I'm proud of the work the Commerce Committee has done to bring the Kids Online Safety Act and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act forward. I look forward to continuing this critically important work of protecting our kids online.”

Rest assured, I keep pushing back against the radical nonsense that’s hurting our country’s future. God Bless!

Keep Texas Strong,
