Title 42 expired yesterday, and I traveled to the border with several colleagues to speak with the men and women of Border Patrol and the Texas National Guard. The crisis at our southern border has never been worse. Over 10,000 illegal aliens flow in daily, and that number will only grow with the expiration of Title 42. President Biden has opened our border without regard for the consequences, and we are experiencing an invasion. We can’t keep ignoring the reality of what is happening. We must secure the border.

And on Thursday of this week, the Biden administration is going to end their authority under Title 42. And that is going to take a disaster and make it exponentially worse.”
Wednesday, as the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, I presided over an executive session to mark up my TRANQ Research Act, the Railroad Safety Act, and legislation aimed at modernizing the nation’s weather communication and radio service.

“The drug epidemic continues to ravage communities in Texas and across the country. And, to protect our citizens we need to work swiftly to prevent deadly new drugs like Tranq and the truly horrifying side effects that come with it. This bill would improve our knowledge of these devastating drugs so that law enforcement and others on the front line of this battle have better information about when Tranq shows up in a community.”
That same day, I delivered remarks on the Senate floor as my colleagues and I passed a resolution calling for the immediate release of unjustly detained Texan Mark Swidan. Watch below↓

For the last eleven years, Mark has endured a living hell trapped in a Chinese prison. He’s exposed to extreme heat and cold. He’s deprived of sleep. He’s subjected to physical abuse. Mark has also been denied access to his family and American diplomats, and in 2019 a Chinese court sentenced Mark to death. The Senate has just sent a powerful message to the CCP: Let Mark go.

“The volume is so massive that it defies words. And you're right. Democrat mayors are freaking out and declaring a crisis. The Democrat mayor of Chicago, the Democrat mayor of Washington, DC, the Democrat Mayor where you are in New York City declares it a crisis when he gets even a few illegal immigrants. We've had over six and a half million cross under Joe Biden.”

That same day, I attended a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing regarding yet another wave of President Biden’s extreme and unqualified partisan nominees to the federal bench. Watch below↓
“What’s going to happen next is quite unfortunate for the American people, because what we are about to see this committee do is vote on several nominees who are so extreme, who are so unqualified, that they could not have a prayer of getting even a single Republican vote on this committee. … Frankly, if my Democrat colleagues valued the responsibility of the Senate’s advice and consent, my Democrat colleagues would tell the White House these nominees are unacceptable.”

“We're on the southern border and there is a full-on invasion that is unfolding. We've seen for two-and-a-half years the worst illegal immigration in history. Six-and-a-half million people crossing illegally. And I'll tell you, as we stand here tonight, hours away from Title 42 expiring, there are 22,000 illegal immigrants camped just south of the Rio Grande preparing to cross over. … This is an invasion, and Texas is paying the brunt of the price.”
