Sen. Cruz: It's a Wonderful Life in Texas

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today released the following statement in advance of Christmas Day:

“Christmas is upon us again, a time not only to cherish the company of loved ones, but also to celebrate and heed the Lord – to remember that Holy Night in Bethlehem when Christ was born.

“During this season of giving, Texas has once again come alive with an unparalleled spirit of love and fellowship. From the McAllen Police Department’s and Walgreens’ toy drive serving roughly 3,000 kids, to Fair Park’s annual Christmas in the Park event in Dallas helping families in need; from Houston’s Star of Hope Mission facilitating at least 48 homes for homeless families, to the Harlien family in Georgetown who hung 70,000 lights this year to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Indeed, in South Texas, my office helped a veteran receive retroactive disability pay that was owed to him so that his four children would not have to go without Christmas presents.

“This remarkable generosity and goodwill demonstrated across the Lone Star State reflects the true meaning of Christmas and spreads the Lord’s promise of enduring love, hope, and redemption.

“I pray your Christmas season is filled with joy and peace. May God bless you, and may He continue to bless the great state of Texas and the United States of America.”
