ICYMI: Sen. Cruz Discusses Syria, Obamacare Repeal and Replace, and Supreme Court with Texas Radio Hosts
HOUSTON, TX -- On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined local Texas radio hosts to discuss Syria, Healthcare, and the recent confirmation of Justice Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court.
“This year we have the opportunity to do something historic,” Sen. Cruz said to Texas Weekend’s David Brown. “If we follow through this year with repealing Obamacare, major tax reform, major regulatory reform we could see millions of new high paying jobs being created and that’s what all my time and energy is focused on.“
On Syria:
“It is a dangerous world, and it has gotten much more dangerous in the last eight years. If you look at Syria, it is a complete mess. There are no good options in Syria. Bashar al-Assad is a monster,” Sen. Cruz said to KFYO’s Chad Hasty. “If the commander-in-chief comes to Congress seeking authorization for use of military force, I’m going to keep an open mind and hear the commander-in-chief fairly. Now, the question that I will ask and other members of congress will ask is how does this protect the national security interest of the United States. That is the central question that needs to be answered before we proceed any further.”
On Obamacare Repeal and Replace:
“Failure is not an option,” Sen. Cruz said to Texas Weekend’s David Brown. “There is no doubt that the initial forays to repealing Obamacare hit a rocky patch and my view is we have to get it done. Republicans have spent seven years promising the American people, if you elect us we will repeal Obamacare.”
On Judge Neil Gorsuch’s Confirmation:
“Justice Neil Gorusch’s confirmation is a cause for celebration,” Sen. Cruz said to KTSA’s Trey Ware. “After a year vacancy left by that by the passing of the great Justice Antonin Scalia, we have delivered on a campaign promise made to the American people of nominating and confirming a strong principled constitutionalist who will protect the Bill of Rights, free speech, religious liberty, second amendment.”
