“Cruz met with officials in Edinburg, Mission, Pharr and Brownsville on the latest leg of his Texas tour, according to a news release from Sen. Ted Cruz Press Office. Cruz made his first stop at J & D Produce Inc. in Edinburg before heading to the Royal Technologies Factory in Mission. Cruz spoke to agricultural leaders about the effect small businesses have on economic growth in the U.S. ‘The reason small businesses matter so much is small business is key to jobs and economic growth,’ Cruz said. ‘Two thirds of new jobs come from small businesses. KVEO: Sen. Ted Cruz Visits Valley Cities

“Senator Ted Cruz is back in the RGV for the third time this year. This time, he's meeting with trade industry stakeholders and local officials to hear their concerns and find ways to develop the local economy. One of the topics of discussion was the need of migrant workers, which the Senator is for as long as they come to the U.S. legally. ‘There's no doubt that our immigration system needs to be improved and streamlined to make sure that we have workers that are meeting the needs, the job needs in our economy,’ Sen. Cruz said. ‘My views on immigration are simple. Legal, good. Illegal, bad.’ With the current administration, Cruz hopes to see more people coming into the U.S. legally, especially because the number of illegal crossings has dropped. ‘One of the most astonishing successes we've seen this year, is the precipitous decline in illegal immigration,’ Sen. Cruz said. ‘Upwards of 60 percent decline in illegal immigration, with the new administration.’”
