Sen. Cruz: ‘Too Many Lives Have Been Lost to the Opioid Crisis, and Today We Take a Stand for All Americans’
Applauds Senate passage of legislation to combat opioids epidemic
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) issued the following statement applauding the Senate’s passage of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (H.R. 6):
“Too many families across our country, including my own, have been hurt by our country’s opioid epidemic,” Sen. Cruz said. “In September, I voted in support of the legislation presented on the floor today, which will provide federal funding for research on new non-addictive treatments for patients, enforce stricter laws requiring the U.S. Postal Service to restrict shipments containing fentanyl from entering our country, and authorize federal support for state efforts to combat drug addiction. Too many lives have been lost to the opioid crisis, and today we take a stand for all Americans. I am proud of Congress’ actions today to take a stand in efforts to save millions from the ravages of drug addiction, and look forward to President Trump signing this legislation into law.”
