Sens. Cruz, Cornyn Praise Confirmation of US Marshal for South Texas
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) released the following statements after the Senate confirmed T. Michael O'Connor as U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Texas:
"I am grateful for Sheriff Michael O'Connor‘s commitment to law enforcement and willingness to serve our nation and Texans in the Southern District as US Marshal," Sen. Cruz said.
"Sheriff O'Connor is well-prepared for this leadership role after serving the residents of Victoria County for years in law enforcement," said Sen. Cornyn. "I thank my colleagues in the Senate for supporting his confirmation, and I applaud Sheriff O'Connor for his continued willingness to serve the people of Texas."
Thomas Michael O'Connor of Texas, to serve as United States Marshal for the Southern District of Texas. T. Michael O'Connor is the Sheriff of the Police Department of Victoria County, Texas and has served in that role for over 14 years. Previously, Sheriff O'Connor served in various positions in the Sheriff's Offices for Refugio, Goliad, and Victoria Counties, including as a member of the Victoria County Sherriff's Office Special Weapons and Tactical Team (SWAT). Sheriff O'Connor also taught Law Enforcement Professionalism and Ethics at Victoria College Law Enforcement Academy from 2002 to 2004 and earned his B.S. from Texas A&M University.
