Sen. Cruz Announces Staff Updates to Washington, D.C. Office
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today announced Maria Jeffrey has been promoted to Director of Speechwriting and Strategic Communications. Maria, who joined Sen. Cruz's team in 2018 as press secretary, will continue to serve in his Washington, D.C. office in her new role.
"For two years, Maria has played an invaluable role on our leadership team, helping our office effectively communicate with the 29 million Texans we represent and Americans all across the country," Sen. Cruz said. "Maria is a strong communicator who has devoted her career to advancing conservative principles and promoting prosperity for all Americans, and I'm grateful she will continue to serve our office and the people of Texas in her new role."
Before serving as press secretary in Sen. Cruz's office, Maria served as communications director for Axiom Strategies, where she developed and executed high-profile crisis communications and media campaigns. Prior to her time at Axiom, she served as communications director for Congressman Walter Jones and political director for the National Federation of Republican Women. Maria earned a bachelor's degree in Classics from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She lives in the D.C. area with her husband and children.
