Cornyn, Cruz Seek Applications for Texas Judgeships and U.S. Attorney Vacancies
Qualified attorneys are invited to seek appointments for openings
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today announced that they are accepting applications for judicial vacancies and U.S. Attorney vacancies in Texas. The Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee (FJEC), a bipartisan panel of leading attorneys in Texas, will review applications, interview candidates, and make recommendations to the Senators. The judicial vacancies are in the Eastern (Tyler) and Southern (Brownsville) Districts of Texas. The U.S. Attorney vacancies are in the Northern and Western Districts of Texas.
“Texans deserve able, fair, and independent prosecutors and judges, and I encourage all interested candidates to step forward and answer the call to serve their state so we can fill these openings as soon as possible,” said Sen. Cornyn.
“The FJEC selection process ensures Texans have the best, most qualified judges and prosecutors defending their rights in court,” Sen. Cruz said. “Texas is blessed with many exceptional candidates with a deep respect for the rule of law, and I encourage them to pursue these important positions.”
Sens. Cornyn and Cruz invite qualified attorneys to seek appointment by submitting their resumes and completed questionnaires to both lawmakers’ offices. The questionnaire is available here.
Completed application packets must be received at the below email addresses no later than Tuesday, October 13, 2015. Email is strongly recommended because of delays due to security procedures involving congressional mail. Submitted questionnaires will be reviewed by the FJEC and selected candidates will be interviewed.
