Cruz Champions Senate Resolution Declaring July 22 the National Day of the American Cowboy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), and Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) introduced a bipartisan resolution declaring July 22, 2023 as the National Day of the American Cowboy. The resolution, honoring the culture, traditions, and values of the American Cowboy way of life, passed the U.S. Senate with unanimous support.
Upon passage, Sen. Cruz said, “The people of Texas embody the principles of honesty, integrity, and hard work that have been ingrained in the American cowboy’s way of life for centuries. The Lone Star State has been built upon the contributions of these pioneering men and women committed to patriotism, strength of character, and common sense. I am proud to honor their legendary history and the men and women across Texas who keep this long-established legacy of the American west alive.”
Co-sponsors of the resolution include U.S. Sens. John Thune (R-S.D.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.), Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), John Hoeven (R-N.D.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), John Kennedy (R-La.), Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.).
