Cruz Statement On Nominees to Serve as U.S. Attorneys for Texas
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) released the following statement about President Joe Biden’s nominees to serve as U.S. Attorneys in the Northern, Western, and Southern Districts of Texas:
“I was proud to recommend these candidates along with John Cornyn, and happy to see that President Biden has nominated them to serve. All four of our recommendations came through our bipartisan Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee, which is designed to find nominees with both legal excellence and demonstrated integrity. Leigha Simonton is respected, and will be a dedicated leader for the men and women of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas. Alamdar Hamdani has served the Houston community both as a prosecutor and as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston School of Law, and will serve the Southern District of Texas well. Jaime Esparza has dedicated three decades to serving Texans, and that will continue in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas. I am concerned that our fourth recommended candidate has not yet been nominated, and look forward to hearing from the White House that they are similarly enthusiastic about our recommendation for the Eastern District of Texas.”
