Discusses economic opportunity and border security with Sun City job creators and border patrol agents

EL PASO, Texas – As part of a two-day trip through the El Paso area, on Thursday, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) toured Plastic Molding Technology, and participated in a town hall with employees. Later, Sen. Cruz received a briefing from El Paso Sector Border Patrol and toured the U.S./Mexico border. Thursday evening, Sen. Cruz participated in a town hall with Texas border patrol agents.

“Texas Sen. Ted Cruz kicked off his two-day visit to El Paso with a tour of Plastic Molding Technology on Thursday. Cruz toured the plant and answered questions from employees. […] Cruz talked about some of his main priorities and answered questions from workers. Some of the topics asked were about NAFTA, immigration and products made in America. Cruz also talked about the opportunities that conservatives have right now, controlling the White House and Congress. ‘This could be the most consequential congress, the most productive congress in decades. And on the other hand if we fail, if we don't deliver on those priorities then this could be truly a heartbreaking missed opportunity,’ said Cruz.”

“Texas Sen. Ted Cruz made a stop in the Borderland to meet with local business leaders and take a tour of the U.S.-Mexico border. ‘We need to use all the tools we have to secure the border including physical barriers,’ Cruz said. Cruz also held a brief press conference along the border, where he answered four questions before leaving. Before the press conference, Cruz took a helicopter tour of the border fence along Juarez and El Paso. He also held a meet-and-greet with Border Patrol agents to talk about what more needs to be done to secure the border. Cruz credited President Trump for fighting to secure the border. ‘Simply having an administration willing to follow the law, to enforce existing federal law has decreased illegal crossings over 60 percent. It is a remarkable testament to success but it also indicates that we need to get the job done,’ Cruz said.”

“U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz fielded questions about NAFTA, toured the border on a helicopter and met with U.S. Border Patrol agents in El Paso on Thursday. The Texas Republican's visit continues Friday when the former presidential candidate visits the Lucchese Boot Co. At a news conference in the desert next to the border fence near Sunland Park, N.M., Cruz arrived on a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine helicopter. ‘I also think the president is right: We need to build a wall,’ Cruz said after firing a pepper-ball stun gun and getting on a horse while meeting with Border Patrol agents. ‘We need to devote the resources necessary to secure the border,’ Cruz said. ‘The wall in not a panacea. It’s not a total solution; it’s part of a solution. We need to be using all the tools we have, including barriers, including technology, including more boots of the ground.’ Cruz added, ‘One of the things I have urged the president, I’ve urged the Department of Homeland Security to make these resource allocation decisions in close consultation with local authorities, with local officials, local law enforcement with the men and women of the community.’”
