Sen. Cruz: Advancing Kristen Clarkes Nomination Puts Senate Democrats on Record Supporting Defunding the Police
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today issued the following statement after the nomination of Kristen Clarke to serve as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division was advanced out of committee.
"Kristen Clarke is completely unfit to serve as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division. She has made her brazen disdain for law enforcement clear by her calls to defund the police and troubling history of advocacy on behalf of a brutal cop killer. This National Police Week, the brave women and women of law enforcement deserve better from the Department of Justice than an extreme partisan activist leading the Civil Rights Division. I remain strongly opposed to Ms. Clarke's nomination and I strongly urge my colleagues to reject this nomination before the full Senate."
