Sen. Cruz: ‘Opioid Abuse Continues to Be a Scourge on Our Great Nation and This New Law Will Help to Save the Lives of Many’
SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act signed into law by President Trump
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) issued the following statement after President Trump signed into law the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (H.R. 6):
“Opioid abuse continues to be a scourge on our great nation and this new law will help to save the lives of many,” Sen. Cruz said. “This new law will provide federal support to states in their efforts to combat drug addiction, strengthen our laws to prevent shipments containing fentanyl from entering our country, and allow for federal funding for research on new non-addictive treatments for patients. I commend President Trump for signing this bill into law, and look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues in Congress on legislation to save our fellow Americans from the ravages of drug addiction.”
