Sen. Cruz: ‘The U.S. Will Once Again Launch American Astronauts from U.S. Soil’

Attends NASA announcement naming Boeing CST-100 Starliner and SpaceX Crew Dragon astronauts

HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Space, Science, and Competitiveness, attended NASA’s announcement naming the astronauts assigned to crew the first test flights and maiden voyages of the Boeing CST-100 Starliner and SpaceX Crew Dragon at Johnson Space Center in Houston. NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, Rep. Brian Babin (R-Texas), and others were also in attendance.

“Today was a tremendously important announcement for Houston, for Texas, and for America,” Sen. Cruz said. “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in America’s leadership in space exploration. For seven years, America has had to rely on Russian rockets to get to space. But soon, the U.S. will once again launch American astronauts from U.S. soil. I have every confidence Texas will continue leading the way for America’s leadership in space, and I look forward to the test flights and maiden voyages of the Boeing CST-100 Starliner and SpaceX Crew Dragon.”
