Sen. Cruz: ‘When Texas Faces Disaster, Texans Come Together’
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Wednesday U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) surveyed flood damage and visited with local officials in Burnet and Llano County. There, Sen. Cruz reiterated his commitment to seeing Texas through recovery and urged Texans to heed local weather warnings.

“Sen. Ted Cruz traveled to Kingsland, Texas, Wednesday afternoon to visit with those affected by the recent flood that has impacted Central Texas. As of Wednesday, at least one person has died due to the Llano County flooding and it is unclear just how many people have been displaced. During a press conference, Cruz and other officials spoke about how the flooding impacted the surrounding community. ‘Llano County, Burnet County, they're hurting,’ said Cruz. ‘When Texas faces disaster, Texans come together.’ Cruz said that as the community moves forward, Texas is in good hands of local leaders and first responders. ‘Texas has experience with natural disasters and it's one of the great strengths that local leaders and first responders have because they know what they're doing,’ Cruz added.”

“Senator Ted Cruz is in Kingsland tonight where a bridge collapsed yesterday. CBS Austin cameras caught that collapse live on television. Just incredible to watch. Senator Cruz today praised law enforcement for evacuating 100 people nearby. ‘It was the local sheriff deputies and the local police department that were knocking on doors in the middle of the night saying you need to get out,’ Sen. Cruz said. That bridge is a main artery for the area. Officials say it could take a year to rebuild.”
