Sen. Cruz: Biden’s Infrastructure Plan and Tax Hike Puts American Jobs Last

HOUSTON, Texas - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement after President Biden unveiled a $2 trillion infrastructure plan that will destroy American jobs and stunt economic growth:

"Rebuilding America's infrastructure should be a bipartisan effort, focused on strengthening America's highways, bridges, and roads. Unfortunately, under President Biden, we've seen the radical Left emboldened to hijack Congress' important work to push their extreme partisan agenda and today is no different.

"This $2 trillion plan is really just the Green New Deal-lite masquerading as an infrastructure plan. President Biden is attempting to make good on his promise to transform America's blue-collar economy into a ‘green' economy.

"At a time when America's families, small businesses, and job creators are just getting back on their feet, President Biden plans to increase taxes because he thinks he knows how to spend your money better than you do. Raising taxes on businesses hits blue-collar employees hardest and raising the American corporate tax rate from 21 percent to 28 percent would put it higher than Communist China's 25 percent corporate tax rate.

"Instead we should be working to cut taxes, reduce federal regulations, and help our economy grow - so that more Americans can re-enter the workforce and businesses can create more good-paying jobs. Those are the policies I'll continue to fight for on behalf of 29 million Texans and the American people."
