Sen. Cruz: Debt Ceiling Increase Avoids Needed Reform

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today voted to proceed to a resolution to disapprove of President Obama’s suspension of the debt limit until February 7, 2014.

"The decision to raise the debt ceiling was made weeks ago," Cruz said. "This disapproval vote -- guaranteed to fail in the Senate -- avoids clear accountability for raising the debt ceiling. It also means no structural reforms to federal spending, no measures to stop Obamacare's harmful effects, and no pro-growth tax reforms. We need to do much better when we revisit the debt ceiling in February."
