Sen. Cruz Issues Statement on the Ahmaud Arbery Trial Verdict

HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement on the Ahmaud Arbery trial verdict:

“Today, we can again take pride in our criminal justice system for delivering justice based on the facts presented in a court of law. The evidence in the Ahmaud Arbery trial demonstrated that the three defendants followed, assaulted, falsely imprisoned, and tragically murdered Mr. Arbery.  Based on the disturbing facts, the jury rightly concluded that the defendants did not act in self defense—they were the aggressors. Heidi and I will continue to pray and extend our sympathies to the family and loved ones of Ahmaud Arbery, hoping they find some level of comfort in this just verdict.”
