Sen. Cruz Meets with Laredo Mayor, City Council, and Chamber of Commerce
Discusses trade and border security with local leaders from Laredo
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Wednesday met with Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz and members of the Laredo City Council, before meeting with members of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce. In the meetings, Sen. Cruz discussed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and his priorities for border security.
“It’s always a pleasure to meet with the job creators and community leaders of Laredo,” Sen. Cruz said. “My priorities from day one in the Senate have been jobs and economic growth, because those are the priorities of Texans all across our great state. When it comes to USMCA, I will continue to work to ensure the agreement allows Texas businesses, farmers, and ranchers to sell more of their products and that it puts American jobs first. And when it comes to securing the border – we have a crisis at our border, one that Texas experiences first hand. I appreciate Mayor Saenz and the city council’s input and will continue to lead the fight to secure the border."
