Sen. Cruz Statement on West Memorial Service

WACO, TX – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today released the following statement regarding the memorial ceremony of those lost in the West explosion:

“Our hearts are heavy today as we mourn those whose lives were lost in last week’s terrible tragedy. And our prayers continue to be with their families and those injured and displaced. Thankfully, times like these bring out the best in Texans, who in the last week have shown overwhelming support and assistance for the small community of West. The outpouring of donated supplies and resources to help respond to this disaster is a testament to the generosity and compassion that embodies the Texas spirit.

“I commend the leadership of state officials who have been at the helm of response and recovery efforts, especially the first responders who did not hesitate to put their own lives at risk to move others out of harm’s way in the immediate aftermath. We're all incredibly proud of the countless men and women who have taken part in helping get this remarkable community back on its feet.”
