Sen. Cruz’s Statement on 3rd Anniversary of the Elimination of Qasem Soleimani
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement about the third anniversary of the Soleimani mission:
“Three years ago, American military and intelligence efforts culminated in the killing of Qasem Soleimani. Soleimani was an Iranian regime arch-terrorist with the blood of hundreds of Americans on his hands. He was engaged in ongoing plots to attack Americans and our allies around the world. The mission eliminating him significantly countered and undermined the Iranian regime's ability to wage terrorism globally.
“I am proud to have authored and passed a Senate Resolution that honored those involved in this operation for their efforts in disrupting Soleimani's planned terrorist attacks and eliminating a global terrorism threat. Despite 34 Democrats refusing to recognize the bravery of these individuals, the amendment passed with strong bipartisan support, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to pay tribute to their service and sacrifice.
“As we continue to face the threat of Iranian terrorism, it is important to recognize that the Iranian regime and its proxies, including the Quds Force, remain a significant threat to the United States and our allies. The Iranian regime will continue to pose a threat to Americans' safety and interests until it is discarded to the ash heap of history.”
