Sens. Cruz, Cornyn, Thornberry Praise Committee Passage of Bill to Name Amarillo Courthouse after Mary Lou Robinson

WASHINGTON, D.C. —U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), John Cornyn (R-Texas) and U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Texas) released the following statements after their legislation to rename the federal building and courthouse in Amarillo the “J. Marvin Jones Federal Building and Mary Lou Robinson United States Courthouse” passed the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works:

“Naming the Amarillo courthouse after Judge Robinson will serve as a lasting testament to her career of service to Texans,” Sen. Cruz said. "I am glad to support this tribute to her legacy." 

“This bill will honor Judge Robinson’s dedicated public service and inspiring contributions to Amarillo,” said Sen. Cornyn.  “I commend my colleagues on the Committee for supporting this bill to honor Judge Robinson, and I look forward to ushering it through the full Senate.”

“Judge Robinson is a legal pioneer who is unequivocally respected and admired.  She has always set high standards for herself and others, and our system of justice has benefitted,” said Rep. Thornberry. “Having her name join that of Judge Marvin Jones will be a perpetual reminder of those standards and of her legacy.”

Mary Lou Robinson has served as judge of Potter County Court, the 108th District Court of Texas, as Chief Justice of the Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
