Sens. Cruz, Hirono Call on Supreme Court to Release Same Day Audio of Oral Arguments in Trump v. Hawaii

WASHINGTON, D.C.– U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawaii), the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, called on the Supreme Court to make an audio recording of oral arguments in the highly-anticipated Trump v. Hawaii case available immediately after arguments conclude on April 25.

In their joint letter to Chief Justice John Roberts, the Senators wrote:

“Releasing same-day audio has proven to be a valuable resource for individuals who are interested in listening to the arguments, as demonstrated in cases such as Obergefell v. Hodges and D.C. v. Heller.

“Giving the public access to a primary source of information as soon as possible allows more citizens to participate in our democratic system and illustrates the care with which the Court considers the issues that matter to the people of the United States.”
