Sens. Cruz, Johnson, Barrasso Issue Statement on Biden-Putin Summit

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), and John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement on President Biden's summit with Vladimir Putin:

"President Biden has signaled the U.S. is back to repeating the same decades of Democrat geopolitical policy failures during his first trip abroad. Biden allowing the completion of projects like the Nord Stream 2 pipeline are a threat to European energy security. This type of weakness only encourages Putin's aggression; he's not paying a significant price for his malign activities, and with decisions like these, this administration is only encouraging him. President Biden is sending a message of weakness and appeasement to our adversaries, encouraging and emboldening them. It is precisely the wrong message to send."
