Sens. Cruz, Peters Bill to Streamline the Federal Procurement Process Advances in the Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee recently approved legislation by U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Gary Peters (D-Mich.) to make the federal procurement process easier to navigate for small businesses and new government contractors. Their bipartisan bill would remove obstacles for federal agencies to acquire emerging technology products and services in a timely and cost-effective manner, increase competition for contracts, and open additional opportunities for more businesses to enter federal contracting. The bill now moves to the full Senate for consideration.

Upon introduction, Sen. Cruz said, “Increasing competition within the procurement process for emerging technologies is essential for encouraging innovation and ensuring taxpayers get the most for their money. I am proud to work with Sen. Peters on this bipartisan legislation to reduce barriers hindering government access to the best technologies at lower costs.”
