The News with Sen. Cruz - October 21, 2016

October 21, 2016

Greetings,

This week, I met with small business owners, industry and community leaders across Texas to discuss ways to remove the Obama administration’s crushing regulations that hammer the private sector and stand in the way of creating more, good-paying Texas jobs.

Bureaucrats in Washington refuse to recognize that the keys to job creation and a thriving economy are small businesses, entrepreneurs, and hardworking people who assume risks to meet a need. If we want to unleash incredible economic expansion and enable Texas businesses and others across the country to grow and succeed, we must dramatically reduce the job-killing burdens that are coming from the alphabet soup of government agencies.

In Washington, we see far too little common sense, but right here in Texas, we understand that when the government gets out of the way, individuals and businesses are free to chart their own course. I will continue to fight for commonsense policies in Congress that bring back jobs, growth, and opportunity for all Texans.

Sen. Cruz Promotes Job Creation, Economic Growth with North Texas Business Leaders

On Thursday, Sen. Cruz participated in a North Texas business roundtable with the Richardson, Oak Cliff, DeSoto, and Cedar Hill Chambers of Commerce, in which he discussed rolling back burdensome regulations on small businesses and paving the way for a thriving economy in the state.

“Texans understand that economic growth doesn’t come from Washington,” Sen. Cruz said. “Government agencies do not drive the economy. Entrepreneurs all across our great state create jobs and expand our economy, and we’ve got to lift the burdens Washington imposes on them so they can continue to grow their businesses. In Texas, whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, you understand that people want jobs, and I’m working every day in the Senate to remove regulatory red tape so that businesses of all sizes can continue to thrive.”

Sen. Cruz Visits With San Marcos Job Creators

Sen. Cruz on Tuesday attended a roundtable hosted by the Greater San Marcos Partnership with more than a dozen San Marcos-area job creators to discuss economic development and growth in the I-35 corridor. The roundtable took place at Mensor LP, an advanced manufacturer in San Marcos.

“A top priority of mine in the Senate from day one has been the creation of more good paying jobs and overall economic growth. And that’s true for a very simple reason: economic growth and opportunity is incredibly important to Texans in every corner of our great state,” Sen. Cruz said. “Here in Texas, unlike Washington, we get government out of the way because we know it’s not the government that creates jobs – it’s the people, and we need to once again unleash people across this country to do what they do best, which is innovate, expand, and create far more opportunities.”

Sen. Cruz Op-Ed in Conservative Review: 'The Only Birthday Planned Parenthood Cares About'

On Sunday, Sen. Cruz and President of the Susan B. Anthony List Marjorie Dannenfelser penned an op-ed for Conservative Review regarding Planned Parenthood’s 100th anniversary. Cruz and Dannenfelser admonished Planned Parenthood for the disturbing ideology upon which it was founded and mourned the millions of unborn children who have been denied the right to live at the hands of the abortion industry.

“While anti-life advocates may choose to celebrate Planned Parenthood’s founding, we will instead mark this day as one of remembrance for an entire generation who never reached their first birthdays,” Cruz and Dannenfelser wrote. “We will recommit to building a culture of life that cares for mothers, nurtures their children at every stage of development, and rejects the destructive culture of organizations like Planned Parenthood and all those who would permit the taking of human life.”
